Wilson's Storm-Petrel (Oceanites oceanicus)
"Dancing" - Maryland waters on a pelagic trip out of Lewes, Delaware (8/28/2004).
Below: Wilson's Storm Petrels "dancing" as they forage off Cape Hatteras, North Carolina (5/29/2011). In the second image, note the yellow webbing between the toes!
Below: A molting Wilson's Storm-Petrel that made several close passes around the Judith M. Jim Stasz complained when I leaped up from a Bonine-induced stupor to snap this shot and then sat back down and closed my eyes. Some primal part of my brain takes over when seabirds need to be photographed. I spend as much time fighting against seasickness medicine as fighting seasickness.
